API de-constructed

There is no doubt that the COVID-19 pandemic has greatly accelerated digital transformation within companies, even among financial institutions which have traditionally been cautious about adopting cloud-based services.
Migrating to the cloud means work that requires intense computing becomes much faster. The speed at which data is processed in the cloud also means that information can be retrieved at a much faster rate. In order to experience the efficiency boost a cloud-based service affords, data needs to be standardised. You also need a way to extract information from the cloud.
Enter PolicyDock which provides a full suite and well documented policy administration and data APIs.
What does PolicyDock offer?
We can digitise and standardise any insurance product in a matter of DAYS. We also provide the intermediary tool (API) needed to query data from any system.
What is an API?
APIs (Application Programming Interface) are all around us without us knowing. They are a set of tools, processes and instructions that allow one system or service to interact with one another. When we use a dining app to look up a restaurant location and the map within the app shows Google Maps, that’s the result of an API working behind the scenes to make the connection.
What’s so good about an API?
After data has been standardised, information retrieval through an API is MUCH faster because the cloud only needs to give you what you requested, not everything on the menu.
Moreover, an API is compatible with any system, can connect with any of the latest SaaS, and is easy to program and connect when it is well-documented. You also get to control who connects to the API.
How will the integration of APIs with our existing systems empower our tech team?
Tech teams can easily code off the APIs because they are well-documented. APIs allow tasks to be fully customised, and make work much more efficient.
Which computer languages do my IT guys need to know to make use of an API?
Any web programming language.
Is the API secure?
Absolutely. Rights and permissions are secured, and security is assured by JWT tokens. In addition, the security of our API - and the rest of our tech process - will be audited as part of the SOC 2 verification.
Will the API fit in with my existing infrastructure? The last thing I want is a massive overhaul.
PolicyDock’s API can be seamlessly integrated with any legacy infrastructure. In fact, we enhance legacy to be compatible with the digital world.
Who can potentially benefit from PolicyDock’s API?
Insurance companies, brokers, managing general agents (MGA), insurtechs and digital eco-systems.
Is there a way for me to see how this works?
